Is your property visible in ChatGPT? How to check before the season
Guests ask AI where to sleep near Rewal. Here is how to check whether your property shows up in ChatGPT answers, and what to fix if it does not.
„Where can I sleep near Rewal?” – not long ago such a question went to Google; today it can just as well go to ChatGPT. Instead of a list of ten links, the guest receives one answer with a handful of recommendations. If your property is missing from it, this guest will never know you exist. Here is how to check it yourself and what to fix.
Where do guests ask about accommodation?
A guest plans a trip and asks the assistant: „family accommodation near Rewal”, „a guesthouse with a jacuzzi in Ustronie Morskie”, „a seaside cabin for six people”. ChatGPT, Gemini or Google with its AI Overviews write the answer. A few property names appear inside, sometimes with links to sources.
This changes how visibility works: you are no longer fighting for a place on a list of results, but for a mention inside a paragraph. There is no list to scroll.
How do you check whether your property shows up in AI answers?
The test takes half an hour and costs nothing:
- Write 5–10 prompts the way a guest would phrase them. Use your town and your type of property.
- Ask them in ChatGPT and in Google, where AI Overviews answers appear.
- After each answer note three things: whether your property was named, whether the description was correct, and who appeared instead of you.
Two caveats. One answer settles nothing – models respond differently depending on the day, the language version and the phrasing. Look at the pattern across a dozen questions, not at a single shot.
Check the basics too: enter just the name of your property. If the assistant confuses the location or quotes outdated prices, information about your business has drifted apart across the web.
What should you fix so AI can recommend you?
Concrete descriptions. „Cosy rooms in a stylish interior” says nothing. „A triple room with a bathroom, two hundred metres from the beach, parking included” does. An assistant recommends what it can say something concrete about.
Structured data. Your website should tell machines the same thing it tells people: what kind of property this is, where it stands, what a night costs. That is what schema – structured data – is for; the definition lives in my glossary.
A consistent offer. The same name, the same prices and the same scope of services on your site, in your Google Business Profile and on the portals. Contradictory data is a common reason a property gets skipped or described incorrectly.
Reviews. The assistant reads guest reviews while building an answer about an area. If you lose track of them between Booking and Google, my review monitoring keeps every review in one place, daily.
And honestly: none of these fixes comes with a promise that „in a month you will be in ChatGPT”. They raise the chance that the model understands what your property is and takes it into account. Who ends up in a particular answer is decided by the model – and it does change its mind.
What is GEO, and will it replace SEO?
This area is called GEO – Generative Engine Optimization, preparing content for AI answers. I describe the whole mechanism separately in my post what is GEO.
GEO does not replace SEO. Google still brings guests, and both disciplines share the same foundations: a working website, concrete content, correct business data. GEO adds one question: can my content be used in an assistant’s answer?
Where do you start?
If you would rather not guess, start from your baseline. The basic SEO/GEO audit costs 800 PLN and gives you a report with recommendations. The extended one (2,200 PLN) adds an implementation plan and a recorded video presentation. No promises about positions or citations – you get a picture of where you stand and what to fix first.
FAQ
Is my hotel visible in ChatGPT?
The simplest way is to ask the assistant yourself, using a question a guest would ask, such as „where to sleep near Rewal”. If competitors appear and your property does not, it is time to tidy up the information about your business across the web. A single answer proves little – look at the pattern over a dozen questions.
How do I check my property’s visibility in AI?
Write a few prompts the way a guest would phrase them: town, type of property, occasion. Ask them in ChatGPT and in Google, where AI Overviews answers appear. Note whether your property was named, whether the description was correct and who appeared instead of you. Repeat the test a month later.
What is GEO?
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: preparing website content so AI systems can understand and use it – concrete descriptions, structured data and consistent company information. The goal is practical: the assistant should understand what your property is and be able to recommend it. I explain more in my what-is-GEO post.
Will GEO replace SEO?
No. GEO complements SEO. Google still brings guests, and both disciplines share the same foundations: a working website, concrete content and correct business data. GEO adds one question: can my content be used in an AI answer?
